How This Calculator Works
This calculator estimates the expected value (EV) of opening Riftbound booster boxes by combining pull rate data with current CardMarket prices. Here's how it works:
The Calculation
For each card rarity, we calculate: Expected Value = Pull Rate × Average Card Price
Example: If Rare cards appear ~48 times per box and the average Rare costs €0.50, then:
Rare Expected Value = 48 × €0.50 = €24.00 per box
We repeat this for all rarities (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Alt Art, Showcase, Signed) and sum them to get the total box expected value. The ROI is then calculated by comparing this expected value to the box purchase price.
Understanding the ROI Metrics
- ROI @ MSRP: Your expected return if you purchase boxes at retail price (€120). A positive ROI means you're likely to profit.
- ROI @ Break Even: The box price at which you would break even on average. If boxes cost more than this, opening them is -EV.
- ROI @ Market Price: Your expected return based on current secondary market box prices.
